Inside Rocket III

Rocket III was DRACO's 2021–2022 vehicle. Its Critical Design Review documents a 122 in, 55.8 lb full-scale design built around a Cesaroni L1685 motor and a declared target apogee of 5,230 ft, along with a dual-deployment recovery system and the LOLS (Launch Operation Location System) payload. A subscale test flight in December 2021 reached 2,621 ft but suffered a recovery-separation failure on landing. No Flight Readiness Review or Post-Launch Assessment Review has been recovered from the team's archives for this cycle, so the full-scale vehicle's achieved apogee and competition result — and whether it flew at Huntsville at all — remain unconfirmed.
